What we fund: The Techstars Foundation funds 501(c)(3) organizations with educational programs that are aligned with our mission of developing and supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs.

Techstars Foundation is a donor-advised fund managed by the Community Foundation Boulder County.
Apply For A Grant
Our support ranges from $10,000 to $50,000 depending on the established organizations budget.

Applications for grant considerations will be open March 15 - April 8.
Does my organization qualify?
Use this checklist to see if your organization qualifies for a Techstars Foundation grant.
Must be a public charity, non-profit, e.g., a 501(c)(3)
Mission aligned: Your organizations activities must further the mission of the Techstars Foundation to develop and support underrepresented entrepreneurs.
Must have an educational program the grant can directly support.
Measurable impact: Must be measuring the goals you set for the program and have the capability to share specific metrics of impact.
Must agree to the Techstars code of conduct.
Must have a Board of Directors that includes individuals from groups that are underrepresented in the tech industry (women, people with disabilities, racial/or ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTQ community, and/or U.S. military veterans).
Demonstrate at least two years of operations and successful fundraising to support such operations.
Your organization will be more likely to be considered for a grant if…
The approach to solving this problem is innovative and unique
Led by people who live and work in the community.
The development of the program is heavily influenced by the communities being served
Excitement to create social impact
We can not fund:
  • Events, sponsorships, or galas
  • Techstars related events or programs
  • Scholarships
  • Grants directly to individuals
  • Endowment funding
  • Lobbying of any kind
  • Organization or programs that directly benefit Techstars
  • Social enterprises or any organization that is not a 501(c)(3) or in-country equivalent

Please read carefully, as these are non-negotiable restrictions that disqualify your organization from receiving a grant from the Techstars Foundation

  • We can't have the same people on our boards. Minimal overlap between the board members or executives of your organization and the board/executives of Techstars or the Techstars Foundation.

  • Don't give us stuff in return. If you receive a grant, your organization cannot give Techstars, the Techstars Foundation, our advisors, or any related parties any goods or services or any personal or material benefit that is not provided to the general public (for example, we may receive your newsletter, which you offer to the general public).

    • These prohibited benefits include tickets, memberships, meals, preferred parking, preferred seating, discounted merchandise, or other preferential treatment from your organization.

  • Don't give us money in return. If you receive a grant, your organization cannot give Techstars, the Techstars Foundation, our advisors, or any related parties any grants, loans, compensation or similar payments (including expense reimbursements).

  • Don't give money to individuals. If you receive a grant, your organization cannot use these funds to make any grants to individuals (such as scholarships, emergency hardship grants or disaster relief grants).

  • Don't spend the money on us. If you receive a grant, you cannot make charitable expenditures in a manner benefiting Techstars.

  • You don't have to use our services. If you receive a grant, you are not required to spend it on Techstars conferences or services.
